l got about $1,200 ready to buy a bike.l plan on getting a Specialized Allez 2009, but I am not sure what to look for.Can l do 90 miles with that bike?Is there a better option? How do you switch the gears when riding with a road bike? The guy showed me and apparently you move the brake to the right to switch it.I am not sure. What accesories are vital to cycling? Thanks.

yes it can 9,000 miles you can shift into an easier gear by shifting the whole brake and to shift down you just press the black button the side its the opposite with the left shifter you shift into an easier gear with the button and whole brake shifts you into a bigger chain ring hope that helps

To switch gears with the Shimano Integrated Shifters you push the brake lever to the inside to go to a bigger gear. You can shift up to 3 gears at a time just by pushing the same number of ''clicks.'''' To go to a smaller gear you push the small lever to the inside. You can only shift one gear at a time when going to smaller gears.

Your Allez is a fine bike to ride 90 miles at a time. Good Luck!

You can ride many miles on that bike. All of the road bikes will shift to the larger sprocket by pushing in on the brake Lever & will shift to the smaller ones by the lever just behind the brake or on the Sora shifters & below will shift using a lever at ur thumb. You want the regular gear like a helmet, cycling shorts, jersey, water bottle etc. The most important thing to get is a good mirror for ur glasses or one that attaches to ur helmet. It is much harder to turn around & look behind u on a road bike.
