Just about to buy the GT Avalanche 3.0 (disc brakes).Gotta get it from Evans Cycles as its on a ride to work scheme

l just went in and told the guy Ive got a budget of 300 for a decent bike.He suggested this one.

Are there any better ones for that price? l only want it for leisure and ease of use.Gotta be lightweight though, dont wanna killing myself riding it.

In response to the fisrt answer, I will be riding it majortily through woodland areas, with minimal use on the road.

If you are going to ride mostly on the road you do not want a mountain bike. For road riding a hybrid with 700c wheels will be better and more efficient. For road and path or lite trail riding get a comfort/pathway style of bike. That is a good price for that bike but riding it on the road with knobby tires will get old fast.

It would be a good bike for trails and wooded areas. Most of the other bikes in that range will cost you more.
