Picked up a triathlon bike cheap on ebay and wanna convert it to a road bike. l know l need shifters and a handlebar, anything else?How about installation? Easily done at home?

Those are the essential items needed. Doing it is not hard if you know how to tune a bike, the rest is pretty much self-evident. Do not forget bar tape and any cables you may need. You may want to check your stem and seat post to see how the bike fits. You may need a different size stem and possibly a set back seat post to compensate for the steep seat tube angle (if the bike has this)

you cannot convert this because it is a totaly differnt type of frame,and a tri-bike has the same components as a road bike
