im going to buy a mountain biek and start riding long distnance and few times a week for excersice what way will this help my body? will l get buff?

If u bike up hill mostly, it can help you lose weight, and you build ur thigh and quadricep muscles.

you will get lots of leg muscles.

Riding a bike, especially on rough terrain is certainly good excersize. However, be aware that the activity is heavily focused on ur lower body. If u r hoping to tone ur thighs & calves or develop good leg muscle, it is great. However, it wo not do much for shifting pounds around ur stomach or chest. It is a good cardiovascular excersize anyway, & keeps ur heart young & healthy. However, if u r male be aware of the risk of a decrease in fertility that comes with a lot of mountain bike riding.

It definitely builds muscle in the legs. And the abs, leaning over, then sitting back up.

Are u riding on the street of off road on a trail?
You will not get buff. ur legs will become more tone & ur calves & quads will become much more defined because u r using ur legs to power the cycle. It will burn many calories & help u maintain a good lean frame if u r dedicated to riding (100+ miles / week)
Cycling helps with ur cardiovascular endurance & it is great no-low impact exercise, if u r getting into mountain biking it can be a rush too dependent upon the terrain, some of the pro riders r crazy.
Personally l believe that many people find that cycling also helps them with their mental health because it gives them the opportunity to just zone out & clear their heads.

i'm riding to help burn fat but l love riding anyway.
i lifted weights for 3yrs & did no cardio. l gained 25lbs of fat & muscle so to lose fat l started riding my bike. this way l do not have to cut back on calories too much to lose weight.
i just started riding again about 5 weeks ago & have lost 6lbs & since l was already strong l had no problem riding over 100miles my first week. 10 to 30 miles a day.
im not sure what buff means but u can definitely lower ur bodyfat %.thats my goal

Biking works many muscles: First off it is an exelent strength builder for your heart, biking long distaces will give you a heart of steel. Biking also builds your quads (Thigh) muscles, and if traveling downhill and dodging things can work your shoulders and arms.
