l have an alex ap17 rim and l cant seem to find it on the internet. all it finds is different bike listings with those rims. also the alexrims website is no help at all the closest l got was when l typed in only p17 and it came up with two different dp17 rims that are for cross country and the other is for mountain. l was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with these rims and if the rims are strong and durable. right now mine are getting a bit warped but l havent checked the spoke tension. right now im looking for different rims because getting the rim straightened is sorta expensive and im probly gonna keep riding my bike like this so it might be worth buying a different set of rims. but if these are good and l just need to tighten the spokes then id rather like to keep my money. if anyone could help that would be great thanks!

l think that you could try truing your rims before deciding to change them.

l think that Alexrims is a good brand, but l do not know about that model.

Here is how you true a wheel, you need to get a spoke wrench that fits several different sizes. Turn your bike over so that it is on the handle bars and seat. Get a stool to sit on and get comfortable. Push one of the brake pads up against the side of the rim to use as a reference and start truing the wheel as shown in the video. Alex & several other brands will re-spec or private-label a rim model for manufacturers if they ask for it/pay for it. Sometimes they're the exact same product as a stock model, just with a different number.sometimes there is something slightly different about it. This happens a lot with suspension forks, too.

Get yours trued up by a compentent wheel builder & see how they do. If you're riding harder than what they were designed to handle, then look into buying a new set of wheels (or rims, if u want to spend the $ & labor rebuilding with ur old hubs). There r lots of good wheels to choose from & most can be bought in sets for $100 to $250, or much more if u want. Alex does make good rims, it just may be that yours r being pushed past their design limits or that ur wheel was not built in the best way to begin with..but that is easily remedied & then u will know if they're good enough for ur riding or if u need something stronger.
