How do l become a pro cyclist other than getting a bike and riding? Good descriptions if you wanna have the best answer! THANKS

to compete in at least 2 different disciplines :
cross country racing (mountain biking) and road racing.
Talk with people who are in the cycling community.
Gain experience by joining as many races as is physically good for you.
Engage a coach,
Train hard,
Stay healthy

You buy a racing license first. Compete in UC l sanctioned races. Depending on how well u do in each race u advance from cat 5 all the way to cat 1. When u finally reach cat 1 u can contact teams & show them ur race resume (or race results). They will decide to take u in if they believe u r what they need. Some teams develop teams built specifically for the classics races (one day races) & some teams develop teams for stage races (like tour de france, & giro). Many top teams will be made to compete in both.

If u r a strong climber & a solid time trialist then u will be a strong asset for teams that compete strongly in stage races. If u r a sprinter with good stamina & a tactically sound breakaway artist then contact teams that have a schedule for mostly classics.

You can be scouted if u r really good. But the only way to become a pro is to start as an amateur. Buy a race license & start competing. You can also start with a local team or cycling club. You dont have to be a cat 1 rider to even apply. However if u r looking into teams like Team Columbia, Team CSC or Team Garmin-Chipotle Slipstream (or whatever they r calling themselves now) then u better be atleast a cat 1 rider & have a solid resume.

part of it is who you know. join a club. preferably a club with some highly ranked members if you have one. l got lucky. the man who got me started was ranked no4 in seniors in America, so he had the contacts. he took my best friend and l and kind of helped us along with training and such. he introduced us to the right people, and that lead to shwinn-wheaties and then to delmonte.
