My wife has asked for an exercise bike for christmas (probably another clothes horse in the making......but hey!)

what is the best sort to get, something with magnetic resistance or wind resistance?

and how heavy should the fly wheel be, l read the heavier the better, but what is heavy?

i've tried both, and personally i'd say magnetic, but thats just me.

and props to her and you are a lucky man for a wife asking for an exercise bike. you know, cyclists have less body fat than ANY other athlete except proffessional body builders?

You need to consider how fit your wife is and why she wants a bike.

The heavier the fly wheel and the more resistance - the harder it will be to peddle and she might also find her legs bulk up more.

Check out different version, but your should be able to get one that is fully adjustable.

The best one is.one that is actually used. Do yourself a favour, do not bother. Actually use a real bike and get some fresh air. Yes, l am a hypocrite too!

Take your wife to the store to try some of them out. Some will feel better then others and some are very loud and make it hard to hear the TV. If your wife already has a bike to can go with a trainer. l just ordered one from amazon for $75 it is magnetic and they say those are louder then the fluid ones. The ones with a heavy fly wheel will be smoother then the others, again you need to try them out first.
