l watched the tour thousands of times but l never saw them on bathroom breaks. do they stop, keep going, do it in their shorts ? Even on European TV they show something. Do any bike racers know what to do or race rules say to to do ? l wear spandex shorts too and they are pain to bathroom in !

They wear diapers

Most have a timed stop. This means they have a stopwatch giving them 2 minutes to go. Most racers l met hold their urine during the race because the body naturally slows down(If you are still going after 2 minutes most whip back into their shorts) Bowel is another story l wo not talk about. Television wo not carry bathroom breaks :bad for ratings .

...and if they can not make it to a potty break to pee, they just pull down the front of their shorts, pull ''it'' out and pee to the side.

When racing there are two ways to relieve yourself: 1) an agreed stop where everyone pulls over and takes his break or 2) you can urinate while riding either through the the leg of your short or by pulling the waist of the short down.

There are no official rules, but there is a gentleman is agreement that no racing will take place during an agreed stop. Anyone can suggest a pee break, but only well respected participants have enough influence to initiate a stop.
